PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

What do our assessments entail or look like?

Our approach:

Together, the psychologists at Innova Psychology have gained intensive and specialized training and experience in assessing and identifying an individual’s unique cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioural strengths and challenges. By adopting a multi-systems approach to assessment through the use of consultation, collaboration, observation, and direct testing, with the referred individual, parents/spouses, teachers, and other multidisciplinary service providers, we are able to provide insight into the root of an individual’s challenges in order to optimize their full potential.

This process results in a better understanding of the individual as a whole, which is then utilized to provide evidence-based recommendations that are not only practical, but also specific to the individual to better assist with informing programming planning (e.g., Individual Program Plans), decision making, transitions (e.g., need for more specialized classroom settings, remedial assistance/tutoring, entry into gifted/academic programs), and navigating suitable mental health supports (e.g., individual/group therapy).

Our process:

Our assessments often begin with a parent/caregiver/adult interview where one of our psychologists will work with you to better understand your concerns and questions you would like answered by an assessment. This process involves exploring how your child, or yourself, have developed and how that individual is functioning across their environments (e.g., home, school, work, community).

From this information, you and one of our psychologists will develop an individualized assessment plan. This plan may or may not involve direct testing with the individual of concern, completion of rating scales, collateral contact with school/community supports, school observation, review of documentation (e.g., report cards, IPP, previous assessments).

A report will then be written which explains the assessment plan, relevant history, results, summary, and tailored recommendations based upon the findings.

Your psychologist will then meet with you to discuss the results, provide you with the report, and answer any questions you may have.

Please contact us for a quote today, as the cost of various assessments range dependent on the individualized assessment plan decided upon during your initial interview with the psychologist.
