Karen is a Registered Psychologist who brings a warm, grounded, and collaborative approach to her work with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She believes that feeling understood and supported is the foundation for meaningful change, and she strives to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and at ease.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from Acadia University (2008) and a Master of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary (2013). She has worked in a wide range of settings, including acute child and adolescent inpatient and outpatient mental health programs, schools, government agencies, private practice, and community programs. These experiences have shaped her ability to thoughtfully assess and support individuals with complex and overlapping mental health and developmental needs.
Karen is committed to providing care that is both evidence-based and compassionate. She regularly participates in continuing education to stay current in effective, research-informed approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and self-compassion. She has also completed specialized training in the treatment of OCD and anxiety-related disorders using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as the SPACE program, which supports parents in navigating a child’s experience with OCD and/or anxiety. In addition,
Karen has training in attachment-based parent support, including Circle of Security Parenting (CoSP), which helps strengthen relationships and promote emotional growth.Karen enjoys helping clients gain a clearer understanding of their psychosocial, cognitive, academic, and behavioural strengths and challenges so they can move forward with confidence. Her work is guided by a trauma-informed lens, a strong understanding of neurodevelopment and attachment, and a belief in meeting clients where they are. She takes a gentle, supportive approach and values collaboration every step of the way.
Whether she is completing a psychoeducational assessment, supporting a child through anxiety, or helping a family make sense of a new diagnosis, Karen’s goal is to make the process feel clear, approachable, and meaningful. She believes that insight leads to growth—and that with the right support, people of all ages can thrive.
